5th Ultrasound: Bunkbeds

The ultrasound went very well! Both babies are still measuring right on track. They are laying on top of one another like bunkbeds. Baby A (boy) is curled up with chin to chest low towards my pelvis. He did not want to show himself too much. Baby B (girl) was loving the spotlight. She was stretched out and posing all over the place. We think she's a thumb sucker, as it seemed she was sucking her thumb again.

Both babies were moving and kicking and stretching their little muscles. So precious!
Baby A and B both showed signs of swallowing, which is good. Baby A also showed signs of practice breathing. The doctor said this is a great sign, as they usually don't do that until after 28 weeks. They don't need to breathe since they get oxygen from me, but they practice to use those muscles and to get used to the feeling. The doctor called them both "overachievers". :)

They measured my cervix to make sure it still looks ok. The thing with twins is, they can sometimes shorten the woman's cervix which can cause preterm labor. A normal cervix length is around 2.5", and for a woman with twins they want it a bit longer than that. Mine was 5" which they described as "perfect". That's a compliment I haven't heard often.

Baby A had a bit of fluid in his kidneys. The doctor assured us this is very common for boys and will most likely go away before delivery.
I am still anemic, and the doctor increased my iron dosage once again. Hopefully this will help. As far as my blood pressure goes, it was 88/40! Pretty dang low, but they said that was fine.

I also had the 1 hour glucose test, which came back negative for gestational diabetes. Yay! All in all, we had great results once again!

For the next appointment, we'll probably get 3D pictures. I'll also be able to do an amazing test that will tell whether or not I will go into preterm labor. The results of the test are 99% accurate! We go back again in 4 weeks.

Here's the fun part... the pictures! These are all of the girl, since she was the one that wanted the limelight. The last two are just of the boy's "parts".
